I have targeted large Kings (over 40 lbs) for more than 60 years from the Columbia River, up the BC Coast, Southeast Alaska, and finally Kodiak Island. I have witnessed the demise of the Chinook fishery (Kings). The large Kings became scarcer and scarcer through the years and I followed them North where they still are abundant.
Old Harbor is my number one choice to target the big fish and Jeff Peterson is THE EXPERT. Jeff has an unprecedented knowledge of the geology of the sea floor, its structures, currents, and where the different species of fish congregate. His knowledge of the salmon routes and “hang outs” enables him to target the BIG KINGS. He reads the water and will put you on top of whatever you desire to catch. If you have a desire to catch a fresh, ocean King over 40 lbs, Jeff is your man.
The lodge is run by Jeff’s wife Lianna who is a world class chef and super friendly. The lodge is very clean and comfortable.
