Welcome to Kodiak Combos Nick!
We are proud to welcome USCG Licensed Captain Nick Baisden to Kodiak Combos.
A Cleveland Ohio Native, Captain Baisden joined the US Coast Guard in 2005. After joining, he promptly decided he wanted to seek a career in aviation. He was sent to Coast Guard Aviation Training Center in Elizabeth City, North Carolina to complete training to become an Aviation Maintenance Technician. Graduating in 2006, he spent 5 years stationed on the Gulf Coast in New Orleans, Louisiana. Once he completed his tour in New Orleans, he fulfilled a lifelong dream of moving to Alaska, getting stationed at Air Station Kodiak where his duties involved him spending months deployed in the Bering Sea.
When not deployed, he worked closely with Jeff learning as much as he could, working towards becoming a charter boat captain himself. In 2014, Nick left Kodiak to continue his Coast Guard career in Traverse City, Michigan from 2014-2017. Following his tour in Michigan, he moved on to teaching Aviation Maintenance in Elizabeth City, North Carolina from 2017-2019.
Finally, in summer of 2019, he returned to us here in Kodiak. He promptly began the process of obtaining his Captain’s license, while working with Jeff as one of his most trusted deck-hands. A master of his craft, he also works part time at Island Air as a certified Airframe & Power plant technician. In October of 2020, after years of training under Jeff, Nick finally obtained his Captain’s license. He is now available for charters out of Kodiak City, after obtaining a slip in town and making numerous upgrades to the fish slaying vessel, Refuge Rock. Welcome Aboard!
